Mario Musso and his family including his Grandson went on his first fishing trip on Monday, Capt. Joe and John took them out and tried for some Fluke but besides a few shorts not much was happening. After switching over to seabass the bite took awhile to get going but all said and done they put a nice catch together including this seabass of about 5 lbs.

David Yu and his friends joined aboard the Benchmark for their first ever Tuna trip and they didnt leave dissapointed with 9 Tuna for the day including a nice Yellowfin that got away at the back of the boat. At the end of the day we kept our over 47" and under Bluefins and headed for the barn.

Scott Chritensen and friends joined us aboard the Benchmark saturday mroning for a half day of seabass fishing. We started off with a bang and some nice keepers on one of the inshore wrecks and then ended with a good bite. All total about 50 keeper seabass including a nice 16 inch blackfish for the morning. Nie day on the water and good fishing.

Myself, john, Joe, Al, Matt and Kevin headed out for our first exploratory canyon trip late on wednesday afternoon. Setting up on the chunk around 10pm we immediately had lots of squid and other life around the boat. Around 2 am we hooked what turned out to be a large sword on one of our 30 class tuna outfits, one angler and 6 hours later the fight seemed to be nearing its end when about 15 scranks from the boat the main line finally gave way. It was a heartbreaking loss but I was amazed that 50 lb line and leader held up that long on a big sword. We started to troll around 8am and thought we may have missed the early tuna bite but within 10 minutes we had our first bite and dropped it. After that the next 3 hours produced 6 out of 9 yellowfin in the 50lb range and we stopped at a pot and picked a half dozen Mahi's before heading home. It was a nice way to start the Tuna season.

We fished the High rollers shark tournament saturday and quickly realized the water temps had risen to almost 80 on the shark grounds. Despite the temps we had a small mako zip through and tear up some baits during the day, caught a blue shark and had atleast 3 small hammerheads circling the boat for a few hours. Interesting day of shark fishing but no money fish.

Jim Schlupp and his coworkers joined us for a bluefish trip on Wednesday, we arrived at the grounds and saw lots of bait and read fish but could not buy a bite. In the last 2 hours of the day the fish decided they were hungry and we ended up keeping a couple dozen nice 10 to 12 pound blues, losing a bunch and we left them biting at the end.

John Pionzio and his sons joined us for a half day seabass on tuesday and came away with several nice keeper seabass and a few ling. It was so hot that we called the day off a little short but not after Johns son Chris caught his first seabass and atleast 15 more on top of that. Nice job

Janet and George Gardner joined us with some friends for an afternoon trip on the 4th and luckily even with all the heat the south wind didnt come up until the last hour. We hit the reefs and picked a few seabass and then moved off to a couple wrecks which produced well with over 50 keeper seabass, ling and a couple nice cod.

Kevin and Liz joined us a July 4th with their son for a last minute seabass and Fluke trip. During the short half day trip we boated about 30 keeper seabass and 2 keeper fluke to finish off the catch.

Dan Rayniak and his group joined us for a little Mako hunting and came away with a nice day on the water and a 163lb Mako for the table. We also had a smaller mako during the day and several brown sharks swimming around thtoughout the day.

I have to apologize because I am 3 weeks behind on my reports, I hope everyone enjoys the pics from the past month we had some good ones.

July 1st is tomorrow and it's Flukin time for all of you that want something good for the table this summer. The 44' Benchmark and 20' Benchmark 2 are available starting at $350 for the day on B2 and $650 on the 44' Benchmark.

The Bluefin Tuna fishing is around the corner and we have already seen reports of some fish being caught. August, September and october were hot for Bluefin last season so come join us.

As Always we look forward to the Canyon fishing this time of year so we encorage all who are interested to book early. Bigeye and Yellowfin reports are already rolling in.

Matt Jennings and his crew joined us this weekend for some shark fishing. Despite the fleet of boats due to tournament weekend we had lots of action with 3 shots at Mako's, after a few heartbreaking hook pulls we finally landed a nice 120lb Mako for the table.

Kevin Brinkmann and son Matt joined us for Mako mania and JCSA on saturday and had one small mako in the early afternoon and then we got the one right before it was time to go home. Downside, 30 feet from the leader the big fish decided to eject the hook and send us hom empty. Either way a very exciting day.

Brian Dietz and crew fished the JCSA tournament with us on friday and came away with a couple Makos but only big enough for dinner not the winners circle. Good day on the water either way.

Glenn Fishman and his son joined us for his first fishing trip on thursday morning. We headed off to do some seabassin and came away with 30 plus keepers during our short trip and a smiling 8 year old.
